This tourist spot is soften known as the Saint Tropez of Latin America. It is a coastal city in which mainly vacation Uruguayans, Argentines and Brazilians, although it is common to meet people from all over the world.
It offers a relaxed lifestyle with plenty of beaches to enjoy, golf clubs, five star restaurants and a lively and fun-filled nightlife.
It also offers many spectacular beaches to enjoy, the most popular are La Mansa and La Brava, one favorable to take calm baths, and the other very windy, suitable for water sports that require winds. In La Brava, you can find La Mano, a sculpture that is a symbol of this city, built by the Chilean artist Mario Irrazábal in 1982, which commemorates the life of the local fishermen who died drowned.
30-minute drive away is Jose Ignacio, a fishing village where you can taste delicious local cuisine and enjoy beautiful landscapes.
13 km from the city, you will find Casa Pueblo, which was built by the Uruguayan artist Carlos Páez Vilaró. Originally it was a summer house and an art studio, but now it is a museum, which includes an art gallery and a hotel.
It was built around a wooden house made with boards found on the coast. It was designed in a style that can be compared to the houses of the Mediterranean coast of Santorini, although the author says that it was inspired in the nests of the horneros birds. The construction took 36 years to be completed.
Colonia del Sacramento
It is the oldest city in Uruguay, and has interesting attractions such as colonial architecture, beautiful landscapes, beautiful beaches and a few interesting historical streets to visit. The sunsets that can be seen from its coast are really very beautiful.
One of the attractions is the Citadel Gate, built in 1745, framed by a great wall and a moat. You can also climb the Faro, which was built in the 19th century and still works as a guide for maritime traffic.
An abandoned bullring can be a scenic visit. It only operated for two years (it was inaugurated in 1910 and closed in 1912) since Uruguay prohibited these activities.

It is a city in the department of Maldonado, an important summer tourist center in the country, older than the largest and most known city of Punta del Este.
It was founded in 1890 by Francisco Piria, who had purchased a large expanse of land, including the hills of Pan de Azúcar Hill, Cerro del Inglés and Cerro del Toro, towards the beach. In 1897, he finished building his personal residence, the Piria Castle, in 1905 Piriápolis Hotel was completed and in 1910 was built the coastal boulevard Rambla de los Argentinos.
In its surroundings, the first lots of land began to be sold, and from that moment, the small town began to become a city.
